Peace Makers

conflict resolution/restorative justice

The Peace Makers Program teaches students essential skills in conflict resolution and restorative justice through engaging role-playing and circle-based activities. The program moves beyond simple punishment, focusing instead on accountability, empathy, and repair. Students learn to use "I feel" statements to express their emotions and utilize structured talking circles to understand the impact of their actions on others. Key skills taught include active listening, identifying the root cause of a conflict, and collaboratively developing an agreement to repair a hypothetical harm caused. By shifting the focus from "What rule was broken?" to "Who was harmed, and how can we make it right?", the program empowers young students to take responsibility, build stronger relationships, and foster a more peaceful and supportive school community. (All scenarios are age-appropriate, hypothetical, and simple to keep the activity fun and stress free.)
